Commanders
Commanders are the vital leaders of your military forces. Almost every march you send (whether for attacking, gathering, rallying or reinforcing an ally) must be led by a Commander, with the exception of Scout and Trade marches. Before launching a standard march, always ensure your chosen Commander is currently inside your Fort and not already deployed elsewhere.
You can view all available Commanders in your Commanders screen.

Commanders can be unlocked once you collect 10 specific Talent Parts to recruit them. To check the recruitment requirements, tap on a Commander to open its dedicated screen, and then on the greyed out Recruit button:

For additional details on the Commanders screen interface and features, visit the Commander Overhaul guide HERE
Base Roles: Mayor and Sheriff
Aside from leading marches out on the map, Commanders can be assigned to two permanent administrative roles inside your base:
- Mayor: The Mayor provides Economic (Town) bonuses that apply to your entire base. Note: If a Mayor has Troop bonuses, those only apply to the specific march they lead, not to your base as a whole.

- Sheriff: The Sheriff’s primary role is defense. Their bonuses are applied directly to troops stationed in your barracks when your Town is being attacked.

- Town Officers: Support your Town's defense with their Talent-based bonuses.
Rarity
Commanders come in four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. A Commander's rarity determines their base strength, the number and quality of their equipment slots, and how many XP and Rank Points are required to level them up and promote them.
PRO TIP: You can directly recognize the rarity of a Commander via the corresponding background color of their Avatar: Green is for Common, Blue is for Rare, Violet is for Epic, and Orange is for Legendary!
Commander Progression
When you tap on a Commander, you will find four main sections used to upgrade their power: Rank, Level, Talents, and Equipment.
1. Commander Rank - There are six military ranks: Private, Lieutenant, Captain, Colonel, Brigadier General, and General. To promote your Commander, you must spend Rank Points that correspond to their specific rarity. Promoting a Commander is crucial because it unlocks new Talents and Level caps. (Tap the + sign next to the Commander's Rank to see how many points are needed).

2. Commander Level - Commanders can reach a maximum of Level 60. You increase their level by applying XP Points via XP Items or directly via sending them on various Marches. To add XP points via an XP item, tap the + sign next to their Level in the screen of your Commander. Once the XP bar fills, the Commander levels up and earns additional Skill Points.

3. Commander Talents - Every time you promote a Commander's Rank, a new Talent is unlocked. To upgrade these Talents, you must collect specific Talent Parts or exchange the Universal Talents with corresponding Rarity in the Upgrade Talent screen:

- How to get them: Talent Parts are primarily found by opening Silver and Gold Chests (using Keys or Gold) in the Tavern, or by earning them through events.
- Universal Talents: These can be used as wildcards for most Commanders. However, they cannot be used on Commanders won exclusively through events (such as Commander Ulysses S. Grant or Robert E. Lee). To fully upgrade event-exclusive Commanders, you will need to wait for their specific Talent parts to cycle back into future event rewards or special deals in the Store.
4. Commander Equipment - You can equip gear to significantly boost your Commander's stats. Equipment is earned through combat, gathering, completing events, or purchasing from the Store.

By default, Commanders have 6 Equipment Slots. If you wish to unlock additional capacity, you must complete the Equipment Slot research in the College (College > Combat).
Skills and Presets
Skill Points
Every time your Commander levels up, they earn Skill Points. Tap the Skills tab to assign these points in their Skill Tree. You can manually assign them or use the Auto Assign feature for a quick build. If you make a mistake, you can reset your tree by purchasing a Reset Skills item from the Store for 500 Gold (a confirmation message will appear before the item is consumed).

Commander Presets
Presets allow you to save and quickly swap between different Commander setups. To unlock this feature, you must first complete the Commander Preset research in the College (College > Combat). Once researched, you can manage your loadouts by purchasing and using the "Equip Commander Preset" and "Reset Commander Preset" items from the Store.

To access and manage the Commander Presets, navigate to the Commander of your choice, then tap on the Preset button in the Overview screen.

Commander Items Overview
You can manage all of your Commander-related items by navigating to Items > My Items > Commanders. If you need to buy more, head to Items > Store > Commanders.
The most common Commander items you will encounter include:

- XP Items
